The working areas of the SER Center can be grouped in: AC & DC Microgrids, Energy efficiency, Distributed Energy Resources and Power System. However, each of these four areas of knowledge can be divided in more specific topics as it is explained next.

The Sustainable Energy Research (SER) Center is part of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR). The Center staff comes from Electrical and Computer Engineering Schools. The center activities are diversified in scientific research, applied research and technology transfer to the industry in the fields of Power System, Energy efficiency, Renewable Energy resources, Industrial electronics, Energy Policy and Microgrid Systems.
